Mystery Illness Sickens Over 30 People on 2-Week Viking Cruise

Over two dozen passengers and multiple crew members aboard the Viking Polaris cruise ship have fallen ill during its two-week voyage, with symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported 28 passengers and 4 crew affected and are investigating an unknown cause, possibly norovirus. The Viking Polaris crew responded by increasing cleaning, isolating sick individuals, and working with the CDC to control the outbreak. The ship docked in New York City on April 23 after visiting Canadian ports. Similar norovirus outbreaks recently affected other cruise lines. The CDC continues testing to confirm the cause.
